Welcome back friends for week 3 of the Halloween Prep series that we have been doing here at TACA. If you missed week 1 on general preparation or week 2 on tools for our kids who are pre-verbal/non-verbal, be sure to check those out!
As with each post, we want to share an encouraging story with you from a TACA family! Meet Charlie, who loves to enjoy Halloween each year and
has an incredible momma who makes a way for that. Despite Charlie’s severe allergies, they enjoy and take part in the Teal Pumpkin Project each year.

Now to the BEST PART–TREATS:
Here are a few very useful links that we have found to help you in deciding exactly what treats your child can have! Whatever you choose—live it up, make it exciting. What you encourage as special, your child will see as special!
Allergy Friendly Candy for Halloween by Parents
Teal Pumpkin Project by Food Allergy Research and Education
Allergy Safe Halloween Candy & Treats For All by Strength and Sunshine
BONUS Treat: Here is a recipe for Jalene’s Marshmallow Popcorn
from one of our coordinators in North Dakota!
YOU WILL LOVE THIS STUFF!

1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/4 cup oil (for popping, or use an air popper and forgo oil)
1/2 cup Earth Balance Soy-Free margarine
10.5 ounce bag of GFCFSF marshmallows
1/4-1/2 cup sugar
Pop kernels. Heat together margarine, marshmallows, and sugar, stir until melted and mixed well. Pour over popcorn, let cool 5-10 minutes and enjoy.
Obviously, this isn’t in the healthy food category but is a great dessert for all your kids to enjoy making and eating together if it fits your family’s special diet.
Have a wonderful week friend!
