Profound autism is a broad term used to describe individuals with the highest needs in the autism community. These individuals require around-the-clock care and support, seven days a week. Per the CDC, one in four people diagnosed with autism meets the criteria for profound autism.
Incredible advocate Judith Ursitti is dedicating her life to help families and individuals navigating a profound autism journey. We are grateful to have Judith sit down with TACA’s Executive Director Lisa Ackerman to talk about this important topic. In this interview they share the prevalence of profound autism, what we can do to better support the individuals and their families, resources available today for families, and the urgent call to action for support.
