1 in 36 Prevalence: The Epidemic Continues

For #AutismActionMonth, we are grateful to share this new interview with Dr. Walter Zahorodny on autism prevalence and the March 2024 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report.  That new CDC report showed that 1 in 36 U.S children have been diagnosed with autism (1.)  This prevalence reports demonstrates an over 317% since the Autism and Developmental Disability Monitoring (ADDM) network since 2000.

Dr. Zahorodny is the principal investigator of the CDC ADDM network. His almost 30 years of experience looking into autism prevalence and identifying diagnostic data trends in this new interview.

We are grateful for Dr. Zahorodny’s important work and will continue to share updates with every new ADDM prevalence report. The next report is anticipated in March 2025.

In this interview, we discussed the different levels of the autism diagnosis criteria.

We will continue to share the autism facts and prevalence updates. There is no time for excuses. It is time for additional support, services, treatments, and prevention strategies to help individuals and families living with autism.
